Magicians Cover and Fortunadom Castle is largely a Role Play site. The only places that you are not going to be Role Playing at would be The Games Area and in The Tower. Now I know for some people a large Role Play site with your own completely original characters can be a turn off. I do not want people to be scared to step out of a comfort zone so this handy little guide, I hope, will help everyone of you feel more comfortable Role Playing and Making a Personal Character.
This might be the funnest thing to do here on the site. Who has not wanted to be someone else once in their life?
[/li][li]Your Appearance. What another fun little to create. Your appearance will help you be whoever you want to be. If you want to be six foot and have long black wavy hair, then be it. If you wanted to have a star as a birthmark on the back of your hand, do it. Have fun with your appearance. Make yourself look like you always wanted.[/li][/ul]
Role Playing is a big portion of the site and I hope these tips will help you be a better Role Player.
How to Create You Personal Character
This might be the funnest thing to do here on the site. Who has not wanted to be someone else once in their life?
- The thing that you are going to want to start off with is your Name and your Birthdate. Get as creative that you want with this. You do not have to keep your normal date of birth, if you wanted to be born in the summer months then do it. If you wanted a big strong name or a cute dainty one, do it.
- Your Back Story: It is common knowledge that everyone starting off in this school should be around 10, 11, or 12; so you will need some kind of back story that lets us know where you came from. Keep these things in mind.
- Spend one paragraph talking about your parents and their bloodline. This paragraph will pretty much be your birth and your genetic lines.
- Have one paragraph for the first five years of your life. The first five years are basically just the stepping stones to you life. Talk about how you leaned to walk and basic toddler things. You might want to mention if you are coming from a magical family what it was like to be surrounded by the magic, of if you fit in with other children and mention some of your favorite things as a child.
- From ages 6 until 10, 11, Have one paragraph for each year of your life. In each paragraph focus on yourself as a person and how you are changing and developing into a witch or wizard. Talk about what you like in life and what you don't. Give as much detail as possible.
- Take 2 paragraphs to describe how you feel when you get your letter to the school. What your families reaction to it, your reaction. Get into touch with your inner feelings and excitement. Please remember that these are just some tips on creating your story, you may do whatever your want for your story.

General Role Play Tips
Role Playing is a big portion of the site and I hope these tips will help you be a better Role Player.
- NO NET SPEAK - I like to LOL with the best of them. But when you role play do not use any acronyms. I do not know how to stress this enough NO NET SPEAK! It might be easy but it is not for Role Playing.
- Use Proper Grammar - We all learned it in grade school. Have a capital letter at the start of a sentence and a punctuation mark at the end. When you talk use quotation marks, ("..."). This is not a hard thing. And please spell check. If you click on the reply button rather then do a quick reply you will have a spell check option and the bottom of the message box, USE THIS! It is very helpful.
- Stay in the Third person - Third-person narration provides the greatest flexibility to the author and thus is the most commonly used narrative mode. In every third-person narrative mode, the focal character or characters are referred to as "he", "she", "it", or "they.
Edana walked into the front gates and sat down her trunk. She smiled thinking about the new journey she was about to partake upon. She wanted nothing more then to scream that she was a witch to the whole would.
This example shows how a third person point of view should be. It is easier if we write in the third person and it makes a better story, if you are telling the story from the outside in. - Use Emotions - When Role Playing even though you are in the third person you still can get into the emotion of the character. Also using emotion makes it more real and understandable.
Edana stood there looking and the school and stared to feel a bit nervous. What if no one liked her? What if she did not fit in? Her heart began to raced and she felt ill. All her life this is what she wanted; to get into her great grandfathers school, but now she felt very apprehensive about going there.
- Length - Many worry was the correct length to a post should be. Should I go very long or keep it short? Here are a few tips and pieces of advice.
1) The first thing that I can say is look at what others are posting. If they are posting longer posts then do a bit of a longer one. If they are posting short then do a shorted one.
2) Look at the situation and go with your gut. Just from looking at the Role Play prompt you should get a feeling on how to answer it.
3) Use the Skirt Rule. Long enough to cover everything, short enough not to be boring.
4) Longer is always better. It is better to have more then enough, then something that does not cover the topic.
After some practice you will get a lot better at distinguishing the length of a post.
